Da Marte a San Zanobi. Fantasie su una colonna

Ancient Florentines Curiosities

Approaching this book intrigued by the cover image, which presents the shape of a pyramid near the Ponte Vecchio, one might expect to find esoteric allusions or archaeo-mysterious fantasies.
Instead, that figure is a metaphor: a fantastic and perennially-lively image of the curiosity that any citizen, visitor or tourist can feel about the past of the cities of Florence and Fiesole. And therefore of the passion for history and archeology that springs from the heart of participation in city life.
We have chosen this image, one of many possible, for the re-edition of the “Antiche Curiosità Fiorentine”, successfully published by Enio Pecchioni over the last thirty years, updated and reintegrated with the same spirit and authenticity as always.
…But know that a pyramid, in Oltrarno, really existed!
